3rd Annual Trunk or Treat – City of Walnut Creek Arts + Rec

Join this fun, free and community building TRUNK OR TREAT event at the beautiful Civic Park in Walnut Creek!

Walnut Creek Arts and Recreation is hosting our 3rd annual “Trunk-or-Treat” event in downtown Civic Park on October 28, 2022 from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. This event invites families to walk through “trick-or-treat” lane and stop by our entertaining booths filled with activities and games such as jumpers, face-painting, balloon twisters, food trucks and more! Families need not register for the event and this is free for the community.

What is a Trunk-or-Treat?
A Trunk or Treat is a Halloween event that is often sponsored by multiple organizations, such as a school or non-profit group. People gather and park their cars in a large parking lot—in this case, it would be our back Civic Park parking lot. They open their trunks, or the backs of their vehicles, and decorate them. If no trunk is available, we can make a table available for decorating. Then they pass out candy (or non-sweets) from their trunks to participants. This particular Trunk or Treat will aim to have decorated trunks, fun activities and other “special” vehicles in attendance, such as a police car, fire truck or S.W.A.T. vehicle.

Why participate?

No vendor fee! This will give you the opportunity to display your marketing material at a citywide event. There will be many walks of life at the event that range from young children to older adults. Last year we had over 5,000 individuals come! You would be able to host a trunk/booth and provide information to the families as they pass by your trunk/booth about your upcoming programs, classes or workshops.

Interested in Volunteering?
We are always in need of those generous enough to donate their time. Volunteering to help at this event is a great way to enjoy our fall festive environment, meet new people, and contribute to the success of one of our largest events of the year! We have many roles and flexible time slots available for those interested in volunteer work. As a volunteer, you have the opportunity to make a significant impact on your local community by helping us provide many of the essential and services for our attendees that we could not otherwise. Most importantly, it’s fun!
