Apple Hill, El Dorado County
A fun day trip anytime of the year, but best fall through to Christmas. It can be a bit crowded with people and traffic at the peak in October, and less crowded in November & December. There are many farms to visit and most have vendors, bake shops, apple tasting and kid friendly activities including mazes, pumpkin patches, pony rides and more! Plan on getting in and out of the car frequently, or maybe just visiting a farm or two and enjoying the day staying put. Apple Hill is located just outside of Placerville off of Hwy 50.

Muir Woods, Marin County
This hidden gem is a short car ride away. Reservations are required for this National Park, as visitors have increased over the past years. This trip is worth it! there is a visitor center, numerous hiking trails, and breathtaking nature to soak in.
Tennessee Valley Hike to the Beach, Marin County
Looking for a fun, beautiful and new place to explore? The Tennessee Valley is a beautiful hike, with trails to suit the whole family. The Tennessee Valley Trail is mostly level and easy to navigate. The trail begins at the parking area and runs 1.7 miles to Tennessee Beach. For more adventurous hikers, there are a number of other trails in the surrounding hills. Bring the family, have a picnic on the beach, discover something new and enjoy a great day!
